Update in Advertising/Linking Policy
- by Billie Pagliolo, President, March 6, 2009
Dear Parents and Teachers,
As a mother and former teacher of the deaf, my company is, and has always been, fiercely protective
of children's safety on the web. We recently have found it necessary to place ads on the pages where our games are
displayed and are in the process of doing that. I want to personally assure you that we endeavor to add links that
we have previously approved. Many of the ads we have placed are linked back to products on our own website. The other
links found on our pages are from the following sources:
a. sites we have personally approved,
b. google ads which have a family-centered
policy,
c.
affiliates whose sites we have approved,
d. Amazon's list
of products appropriate for all ages
e. friends' and family websites and products we know are safe
However, since it is impossible to
check all links to links, we encourgage you to continue monitoring your child's or students' use of our site
as any other site on the web.
We have considered offering our games without ads or outside links. To do that, however,
we would have to set up the game portion of our website on a subscription basis. Since we have many visitors, we
could offer a low subscription fee of perhaps $4.99 a year for individuals and $19.99 for a school district. Please
give us your response to this idea in the survey above. If you leave your name on our email list, we can send you updates
as to the results of this survey.
Note: Some of the
games use our own software and some activities have been created using the "Hot Potatoes"/"Half-Baked"
software tools from the University of Victoria. There are a variety of levels and types of activities so we hope you
find some perfect for your child or students. We're especially excited by our newest "Sentence Scramble" activities
for younger students and would love to get your feedback on that activity as well as all of our activities.
